Visualizing storage locations and market distribution across the UK
The Case Study
A company that provides Storage Services all over the United Kingdom wanted an analysis of their locations in the country. As a BI Consultant, I was tasked with creating a Geo-Location Dashboard for stakeholders.
The project requirements included:
- Visualize storage locations on a map
- Replace UK area codes with the corresponding area or city names for better understanding
- Display total listings per location with the percentage of total listings
- Provide breakdowns for location and storage type, and storage type alone
Dataset Overview and Structure
The dataset provided for analysis contained the following columns:
- Storage Type: Various types of storage options, including garages, loft/attic spaces, and spare rooms, among others
- UK Area: Specific regions within the UK where storage listings are located
- Number: The number of listings available for each combination of storage type and area
The data was provided in a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file format, containing a table with these three columns.
